YES!! I’m ALL IN for the new Iron Man Riri Williams! So today Marvel Comics released big news today about the future of Iron Man. Seems that Tony Stark will take a backseat post Civil War II and 15 year old Riri Williams, a new character that’s been introduced in the current Invincible Iron Man comic series will be the next Iron Man. Riri has been introduced as a genius-level 15 year-old working on her own Iron Man suit at MIT. This news ties into the solicitations of Civil War II issue 7 where there’s the big question if Iron Man / Tony Stark dies (which you can read about here).
Marvel will relaunched Invincible Iron Man #1 will be by current writer Brian Bendis and artist Stefano Caselli.

This is not the first time there’s been a new Iron Man. The biggest issue here is that the general audience & fandom are so used to their Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark / Iron Man – they can’t see or understand this change. Change can be good. This could turn out to be a GREAT new spin on Iron Man and put Tony Stark to rest / background for a while. It could NOT work out but I’d prefer to see the comic companies TRY for change vs yet another boring ARMOR WARS storyline for Iron Man or such.
