Venture Brothers Recap – 0602 Maybe No Go

Venture Brothers Recap – 0602 Maybe No Go
Now that we’ve established what the Venture crew is doing in NYC, this episode decides to check in on what Billy and Pete White are doing as they even have their own heroic secret identities as Billy Quizboy and the Pink Pilgrim.

While the bulk of the episode is both of them dealing with Saint Cloud, Rusty is trying to figure out how to save his company with the help of Pirate Captain, sending to Brock to fetch him and some good coffee.

Of course, the Monarch is dealing with the bad news of not being able to arch against Venture. This leads into Gray getting a list of people outranking Monarch while the Monarch distracts Ms Monarch.

Pirate Captain is dealing with his junkie fix for tranq, deciding to taunt a polar bear to get access to some tranq darts. Brock delivers him back to the Ventures and the detox session begins.

Gary and Monarch start to track down people on the list, getting them to drop their arching privilege. After Gray shows off his moves, the pressure is applied to get the arching rights dropped.

Billy and Pete White square off against Saint Cloud after he stole a rubber ball that is famously from Duran Duran. Things get a bit weird as Saint Cloud taunts Billy in a really awkward way while Pete uses some hair product.

Chronological Captain America Civil War Trailers

Holy Crap this is well done. Feels like a quick, fast forward to the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie though. SPOILERS as it starts to make more sense of the movie version of the Civil War event. Sadly, it REALLY looks like they may be casting a new War Machine / Iron Patriot (James Rhodes) in Avengers: Infinity War part 1. Kudo’s to YouTuber JohnnyB2K for the trailer.

Fan Theories – Battle for the Cowl

With Greg Capullo having issued his statement of leaving the artist duties for Batman back in September, it only seemed natural that Synder would depart at some point as well after the duo have been on a two year voyage of guiding Batman through his journey into Nu52 establishment.

While Synder isn’t completely calling it quits for the cape crusader, he’s switching over to Detective Comics or so the story goes according to Bleeding Cool. Synder has made a pretty large impact on the modern depiction of Batman, having been tied to the character for at least five years with notable tales as The Black Mirror while Grayson was wearing the mantle and the introduction of the Court Of Owls which has been included adapting his story elements into the latest set of Batman animated films  such as Son of Batman and Batman vs Robin.

Prior to Synder, the only other writer to have such a massive modern take on the character has been Grant Morrison, having made his mark with the introduction of Damian Wayne, Batman Inc and most notably famously “killing off” Bruce Wayne which sent him through a crazy time travel experience after the events of Final Crisis. Synder had a pretty big mantle to fill and getting his start on The Black Mirror while Grayson was wearing the cowl instantly gave him the claim to fame that most likely put him in charge of Batman since the switch over to Nu52.

With the rumour mill pegging that DC wants to ship Batman as a bi-monthly title as their new direction is gearing up to be more traditional in a sense, the mantle will wear heavy on whoever takes it as there’s been no solid word on who will be replacing Synder. The looming deadline for the switch over is sometime after the 50th issue as Bruce Wayne takes over for Gordon, establishing the status quo back to normal, a fresh start for a new team.

So with that in mind, here’s my run down list of likely candidates – Here’s a pick of three writers that have the chops to take on the Dark Knight.

News ReturnofBetweenTheStaples

Welcome to… Return of Between the Staples

(Yes, I know I’m sporting my crazy, unshaven crap geek style. Thnx!)

Hey all, so yeah, I’ve been kicking around the idea of making a return to my old blog / site Between the Staples. I found that perhaps what the Geekdom needs,  is EXACTLY another fncking blog site. I know, right?!

So what this site won’t be – we won’t even try to emulate the great geekdom websites like Comic Book Resources, Newsarama, Bleeding Cool, Den of Geek (who I LOVE btw!), IGN, I09, The Beat, Comics Alliance or any of the other great Geek feeds out there.

I’ll post sh*t that I like. There will be reviews. News. Articles on Comics & Geekdom and I’ll be fncking swearing. I’m fortunate to have Ian Aspden joining Return to Between the Staples and hope to perhaps have some others slowly share their two bits as well on all things Geekdom. Deal & enjoy.

Lastly, yes I will slowly be bringing over the old Between the Staples archive of articles & images once I have the time.

Here’s the last time the old BtS hit big time on G4TV…
